Michael Kwame Peterson, Jr. was born on July 18, 2006, he weighed 5lbs - 8oz and was 18 inches long. A few hours after his birth, the Pediatric doctor informed us that there was a strong possibility that our baby had Down Syndrome. We were assured that the proper tests were going to be done to confirm this. Without going into all of the details, and to make a long story short. We accepted his condition. We loved our baby no matter what, also realizing, who were we to have the perfect baby. Michael was perfect to us in every way. Michael was soon transferred to a large children's hospital nearby, where he would undergo tests and medical treatment. It was confirmed immediately by the Specialist that he did indeed have Down Syndrome but to what degree we would not know until later. This was fine with us, his breathing was not good, so this led to the Heart Condition, Tetrology of Fallot. At almost 2 months old, a shunt was placed in his heart to help him until his major surgery, which was to be done when he gained at least 10 pounds. Our Angel got his Wings of Gold on November 26, 2006, he went peacefully while he was sleeping. Michael was 4 months old and a few days away from his major surgery. Michael's death devastated us all, his parents, grandparents and his little sister. She loved her brother so much, by the way she was the one who found him in his bassinet sleeping peacefully on that tragic day. We were not expecting him to pass away so suddenly and so soon. However, we accept the will of God for his life and are thankful that he loaned him to us for 4 short months. Whatever his purpose was here on earth, we thank God for allowing us to care for him and sharing him with us. We have been Blessed because we are oneof the few families who can honestly say that "We Have An Angel In Heaven".
